Key factors when assessing a thyroid nodule are size, number and whether it is ‘hot’ or ‘cold’, says leading endocrinologist, Professor Bruce Robinson.

Future management is largely determined by these three factors which need more than just clinical examination. Ultrasound is the imaging investigation of choice, Professor Robinson said on a recent Healthed podcast, adding that more elaborate tests such as CT scans were not necessary.
